healthy at last

It was a long week but we're finally healthy again. To those of you who are still healthy make sure you disinfect everything that could possibly spread germs to the children and wash hands constantly. I'm pretty sure that's the only way I've avoided what my entire family had. Enjoy the snow!!

the flu

Flu season is most certainly upon us! Everyone in my family, excluding me, is sick with the flu right now. I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to keep up with everything. I hope I don't get what they have otherwise our house might fall apart...yuck. Cleaning up after sick people is VERY gross. Well anyway, pray that we get healthy again!

learning

Okay, I am currently renewing my teaching license and have been taking a web technology class, which is why I started this blog. I have learned a lot from this course! I feel somewhat confident working on the web now and have also discovered some fun things that will enhance my caregiving and communication skills. I have also found so many great spots for getting information that will help me do my job better. My top five resources on the web are: email http://www.google.com/(which I already knew), blogs https://www.blogger.com/start, voicethreadshttp://voicethread.com/, wikishttp://www.wikispaces.com/, and rss feeds through google reader https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceLogin?hl=en&nui=1&service=reader&continue=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Freader%2F. I reccomend checking them out. They may make your life eaisier!

activities

I was introduced to a fun new tool called voicethread. I posted a picture of the kids after a fun craft that we did together. They look so cute! http://voicethread.com/share/298911/

google docs

If I were to use google docs I would use it within the daycare setting because I do not have a classroom at this time. I would love to upload a document that parents can view that may be a child's craft project or written work they may have completed during the day and then have parents and children make comments on the documents. It could be another way to make communication more creative as well as easier.

cabin fever

The kids and I have been stuck in the house the past two weeks and are feeling very closed in. We would go outside but it's been too cold. Does anyone have any ideas for getting out the wiggles? I'm afraid we're going to go crazy if we don't get out and do something soon!

christmas gifts

So my husband and I decided to surprise our girls with a play kitchen and washer/dryer set for Christmas. We picked it up last night and brought it home and our girls LOVED it! We let our older daughter stay up a little later because she was having so much fun cooking and washing clothes.

I was excited to have the child I do daycare for to come over so everyone could have so much fun playing. He was very interested in playing with everything and especially loved the dryer because it spins. Well, my daughter did not approve of how he was washing the clothes and insisted on bossing him around as to what he should and could play with. It ended up being more of a frustration than anything. We ended up playing pla-dough instead. Hopefully they'll have more fun with it tomorrow!
